Finding Peace Where You Are

There is no need to take your life's challenges head on. It is probably better not to. The best time to make lasting change is when you are able to see clearly. How can you reflect if your mind is not at peace? We can't begin to analyze our lives until we first make peace within it.

Here is a non invasive loving approach to healing right where you are.

When you rise before you get out of bed recite the Serenity Prayer:

God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.

Then upon rising drink an 8oz glass of filtered water that is room temperature or warmed on the stove, with lemon or lime. (plain water is ok too) This flushes the toxins from the body and prepares it for digestion.

Dress yourself to take a 15 minute walk in nature. After your walk, write in a journal. Document, thoughts, feelings, insight, or just a word that represents you in the moment.

Ready yourself for the day ahead and enjoy a healthful breakfast. As you are eating remind yourself of these things:

-Be patient, tolerant, and compassionate with yourself and others.

-It's OK to say NO to people asking for your help. Your help is most useful when you take care of yourself first. When your cup is full then it can flow over. When it is not and you try to fill another's, you deplete yourself and eventually won't be able to help anyone.

-Eating and drinking are not secondary needs. They are primary. Give them the attention they deserve. During the preparation and before nourishing, offer thanks and reverence. While consuming, give your undivided attention to the process. Connect with all your senses as you enjoy this time of nurturing.

-At least once a day do something that makes you happy like enjoying a hot shower or bath with your favorite scented products, lighting candles and playing pretty music, dance or sing along with music that makes you feel alive, watch your favorite movie or tv show, or read a book that inspires your imagination.

Here we are at the end of the day. Now is the time to slow down, reflect, practice light stretching, deep breathing, and release the days’ tension from your body. As you close your eyes, allow the bed to completely support you. Offer up your worries of the future and the pain of the past to the Angels. They will gladly bear your burdens so you can sleep peacefully and soundly.

As you begin this journey of peace please ask a friend to join you. It is always best to have support because we learn by helping each other. Better yet, make a group of support and accountability. Require the highest good for each other, focusing on the positive and offering objective insight for obstacles. Empathy and not sympathy will help the forward momentum. You are powerful, beautiful, and worthy. You deserve the opportunity to live a peace filled life.
